Zoffany Fabrics: Tinto, Cymbeline, Frangipani & Intaglio
Designed in England and woven in Scotland*, this collection epitomises British style.
Woven in the lowlands of Lanarkshire, Scotland, near the hill and town of Tinto, these five wools give an innovative twist to traditional plaids, damasks and knitted patterns. The mix of natural marled wool yarns in subtle, glowing colours and natural linen yarns give contrast and texture to the designs.
*With the exception of Cairngorm which is woven in New Zealand.
This collection is comprised of two velvet designs, woven with a silky viscose pile on a finely textured linen effect ground. The velvet pile is made up of two softly toning shades creating depth and lustre. Although both designs are taken from archive references, they are very contemporary in style and coloured in a range of soft neutrals and subtle shades resulting in a collection that is elegant and modern.
Intaglio fabrics are inspired by the distinctive ‘intaglio’ printmaking technique of incising a design into a hard surface to create dynamic fabrics. Three of these designs draw on the architectural lines of ancient and classical Rome, other designs depict illustrative maps, forests of sycamore trees and a sophisticated smaller scale design of repeated coronets.
Frangipani Weaves / Embroideries
Frangipani is an embroidery collection that encompasses both traditional and contemporary interpretations of natural forms. The designs range from exuberant multi-coloured florals to delicate monotone leaf patterns, using a variety of techniques and styles.
Roman Stripes is a collection of classical stripes presented in eight colour palettes that complement both the Intaglio and Frangipanicollections. Woven in a smart, medium-weight herringbone construction, the composition combines the natural look of linen with the beautiful drape quality of viscose and cotton, thus making it a perfect fabric for upholstery and curtains.
