Zoffany Fabrics & Wallpapers: Tespi, Lexington, Malin & Quartz
The Tespi collection transports you to a place where the grandeur of Venice in bygone days meets the charm of Umbria, offering exquisitely sumptuous, yet contemporary, chic fabrics. The collection is inspired by the creative legacy of Mariano Fortuny, a Spanish designer of stage, costume, textiles and fashion, who made the city of Venice his home. His work spans the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th Century and was influenced by Italian renaissance design.
Based on antique brocades, damasks, velvets and paisleys found in the Zoffany archive, the designs were then re-worked by the design studio using contemporary techniques such as printing on foil and digital printing to capture the spirit of the original textiles. The Collection is complemented by the luxurious Tespi Prints, Weaves and Embroideries.
The Lexington Wallpaper collection of opulent, textural wallcoverings combines vinyls and non-wovens and uses innovative embossed effects, metallic and foil. The collection introduces a stunning new ‘scatter’ technique of applying fine translucent beads to the surface of the design, creating a fabulously luxurious sparkling effect.
The Malin Weaves collection combines a plaid, a window-pane check and a plain, woven in a warm combination of yarns that combine a viscose chenille warp with an unusual weft yarn of wool, silk, cotton and polyester spun together. This mix of yarns and fibres produce a remarkably hard-wearing, but softly tactile quality, perfect for creating heavy curtains. It is also a beautiful and practical solution for upholstery in tough environments, including family living spaces and public seating areas.
The colour combinations, inspired by natural dyes, are softly tonal and reflect the heathery colours of the Northern Irish hills and mountains. Small flecks of silk, added to the yarn in the spinning process, add a subtle speckled texture, reminiscent of Donegal tweeds.
Quartz Weaves offer twelve lustrous qualities including silks, sheers, stripes and semi-plains woven with beautiful yarns and subtle patterns in soft mineral colour palettes of rose quartz, chalk and silver and richer dramatic palettes of lapis, gold and amethyst.
Quartz Wallpapers are archive inspired, but use new techniques and materials including foil and light reflective papers and inks to create unique and stunning wallcoverings.
Such was the success of the Curzon quality in the Town & Country weaves collection, that by popular demand, Zoffany are now introducing a full colour range of 18 new colours to add to the original 6 colours.
These include a comprehensive selection of soft neutrals and some beautiful glowing shades such as coral, peony pink and aqua. This lustrous quality is jacquard woven with a sumptuous viscose pile and a delicately dimpled surface, an effect created with the jacquard weave.
Tespi is an ornate, figured velvet woven with a viscose pile on a flat ground which is ‘cross’ dyed to create a rich two colour effect with the velvet outlined in a darker shade of the ground. The medium scale design of a scrolling oval damask motif is similar in style to those that Fortuny often used in his work.
